SOUNDS OF CROYDON
This workshop package is perfect for KS3 students learning about local history in London. Focusing on the history of musicians in Croydon from 1900 to the Present day, resources cover the lives of musicians including Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Stormzy. Sounds of Croydon explores the origins and influence of Classical, Dub-Reggae and Grime music; offering an engaging and fresh approach to the subject.

In-Person Workshop
Delivered in-person, one of our heritage experts will provide an engaging 45 minute session with learners. Introducing the subject, students will have a debate about local historical figures and take part in a quiz. Perfect for PSHE, history and music lessons; schools have also used the workshop as part of a themed local history day. Suitable for key stage 3 students, the workshop covers parts of the national curriculum whilst being an alternative to standard lessons. Printed resources and video links also provided.

Online Workshop
Our 4 week local history workshop is ideal for secondary school students aged 11-13. The full course is delivered online in 45 minute sessions. Discover the history of Croydon and how it played a role influencing musicians to achieve global success. From 1900, learn about the classical composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and the Reggae-Dub scene of the 20th Century, culminating with Stormzy and grime music. Introduce your students to a new perspective on history with this engaging workshop.


DOGGERLAND - A CLIMATE CHANGE WORKSHOP
This workshop course takes a historical and contemporary look at climate change. Looking at the past impact of climate change on Britain, this is contrasted with the similar issues facing India and Bangladesh today. Use this workshop in geography, PSHE and history lessons for key stage 4 students.

From the pre-historic people of Doggerland to the climate refugees of the present, we will teach students how humans are impacting on the environment and what solutions there are for the future. With access to the DOGGERLAND visual art exhibition, students can explore history through a new and exciting lens.

This online workshop can be delivered to students over the course of four weeks or one day. Learn about climate change and how Britain has been impacted in the past, making the subject relatable and real. Students will be exposed to ancient British history, as well as the current issues facing nations in the Global South today. Offer students an engaging view of an important subject.
